The Four Ingredient Cookbook (Vol. I)
Published in Plastic Comb by Coffee & Cale (October, 1991)
Authors: Linda Coffee and Emily Cale
Average review score:

Thoroughly enjoyed this useful, easy kitchen helper
The Four Ingredient Cookbook, Coffee & Cale, eds. Here's a helpful kitchen guidebook for fast, easy, nearly foolproof dishes -- and the range is excellent, from beer-batter bread to flourless fruitcake. Simple, quality ingredients plus imaginative combinations provide alternatives to fast food that are as quick, and less expensive to prepare. Plus, if a special diet consideration is important, readers can readily substitute low-fat or low-sodium versions of ingredients right off the shelf. I would recommend this book -- and its sequels -- for anyone who wants to improve the speed, ease and variety of make-at-home dishes in his or her repertoire. I think students, brides, newly single folks or recently empty-nesters would find it a welcome gift, both practical and fun. Handy features include a lay-flat spiral binding and heavy pages, which allow a cook to stand the book vertically during use in a small kitchen. Its format is clear and its typeface very readable; the one change I would make is a larger size of text.

The French Cafe
Published in Hardcover by Thames & Hudson (November, 1994)
Authors: Marie-France Boyer and Eric Morin
Average review score:

You should buy one of these cafés.
You can plan a trip accross France with this book as your only guide. Walking from "bistro" to café from Nice to Paris, Loire-valley to Nantes and Mont-Saint-Michel. Most of the places mentioned here are typically french. No stranger ever thought of pushing the doors. Eric Morin, photographer, knows well this subject. He lives in the Bastille district of Paris. He knows well the most hidden and most fashionable places. Because he spent some happy week-ends in Château du Verger in Anjou (close to Nantes), he collected great pictures from La Cigale and Trentemoult fishing harbour of Nantes. Did you ever dream of becoming a café tender in rural France? would you like to become the "manager" of a warm café where french workers will start the day drinking a Muscadet at 7 am? Marie-France Boyer, as usual, gives practical advices together with inspiring pictures. She will tell you how and where to buy cafés in France, what are "listed historic monuments" in France (some cafés are). A lot of cafés names and addresses are given at the end of this joyful and useful guide to real France. If you really love cafés, you should also buy "The cafés of Paris" asin:1566562783 and "Literary cafés of Paris".

Everything you ever wanted to know about tea...
People have been drinking tea for hundreds of years. Sylvia Schneider not only provides numerous tea recipes from China, Japan, India, Tibet, Arabia, the Americas, and Europe, she also includes the history and traditions of tea, as well as tea recipes for a wide range of ailments.

The popularity of tea combined with the popularity of herbs as medicine makes this title not only an interesting and informative book, but a practical one as well. Preparing and drinking these teas, which can improve health and well-being, will also be an enjoyable experience.

Higher Grounds: The Little Book of Coffee Culture
Published in Paperback by Arsenal Pulp Press (September, 1995)
Author: Kevin Barefoot
Average review score:

A great gift that goes with that special mug!
After receiving this book as a gift, I found it full of history, humor, and ideas that one would never think of when it comes to coffee. Barefoot has researched this topic to the extent where if one was to look for any facts on coffee culture, this book would have it all. The 'little' book format fits perfectly in a coffee mug, which says that this book can be the perfect add-on to a great gift. I hope Barefoot is working on a second book, as I am thirsting for more

I Like Ice Cream in My Coffee
Published in Hardcover by 1stBooks Library (May, 2003)
Author: Diney Deruy
Average review score:

You'll be hooked! Buy this book.
This book is apparently the first in a series of five. I'm completely hooked. The story combines common, believable characters with a little mystery and mysticism. It's a great read and would be a great movie, as well.

A woman ends up in a small Texas town with amnesia. Is she faking it? You'll be dying to find out. She ultimately captures the hearts of the community and changes their lives forever, in both negative and positive ways.

The book leaves you wanting more, and fortunately there is more in part two, the next book.

I Like Ice Cream in My Coffee Part Two
Published in Paperback by 1stBooks Library (June, 2003)
Author: Diney Deruy
Average review score:

Just as great as the first.
This second book in a five-part series continues with the amazing story of characters in a small Texas town who are both smitten with and disgusted by a strange woman who appeared in their community only days ago. This piece takes them all on a road trip in search of her as she's on the run following a shooting incident.

The author is very insightful regarding the workings of the human mind and its subconscious. These characters are extrememly identifiable, allowing the reader to relate to each one in a specific way. I look forward to part three.
